mobile advertising growth

2010 saw phenomenal growth in mobile advertising. For no reason other to highlight some pretty astonishing growth figures, the below arrived in our inbox and we thought it was worth a post.

Today Admob are receiving more ad requests in a single day than they did for the entire month of December 2007. That’s a magnitude of 30 times in just over three years. India is now the largest mobile advertising market in Asia Pacific with 5.8 Billion ad-impressions monthly on InMobis ad network.

The InMobi Ad Network released a report with the following highlights:

  • In just 90 days, the Indian market grew by over 1 billion impressions (+22%) to become the largest market in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Smartphones remain relatively nascent in the market with 88% of all mobile ad impressions served on advanced phones. Nokia devices remain commonplace in the Indian mobile market with 12 of the top 15 devices manufactured by Nokia. Android & iPhone OS have yet to gain significant ground in India and today represent only a .4% share of the market.

  • More than 100 million unique Android and iOS devices requested an ad each month, nearly doubling over the last six months.
  • Rapid growth is global. Nine countries in the AdMob network generated more than a billion monthly ad requests in December 2010, up from just one country a year ago.
  • The strongest regional growth in monthly ad requests over the past year has come from Asia (564%), Western Europe (471%) and Oceania (363%).
