technology improving industry |

The invent and mass uptake of the Internet has lead to the improvement of many tasks and ways people interact in their daily lives. We all now live in an 'ultra-connected' world with more information than you could possibly know what to do with at our fingertips. Social utilities such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn enable us to stay in touch, share thoughts, travel photos etc etc. at the click of a button with our wider network of friends and colleagues, wherever they might be in the world. Now this is just an example of technology improving our social lives. There are of course many examples of technology in improving efficiencies in businesses, in fact I often wonder how businesses actually went about their business pre @www days?? Researching, identifying vendors, competitors, viewing product information and banking are just a few everyday business tasks that have contributed to a considerable improvement in efficiency as a result of the invention of the Internet. Of course the companies who enabled these improvements through the web for everyone to benefit from (and got it right) are now global, multi-billion dollar companies that didn't (or more to the point, couldn't) even exist pre-Internet. Think Google for Search, eBay to view and buy products, and Paypal for banking. On a side note, a great book that analyses the Internet's contribution to globalisation in the 21st century, titled 'The World Is Flat' a metaphor for viewing the world as a level playing field in terms of commerce, where all competitors have an equal opportunity, provides a compelling and informative backgrounder on the evolution of the Internet and one highly recommended to check-out. 'Mad Men' is an American television series, set in the 1960s, initially at the fictional Sterling Cooper advertising agency on Madison Avenue in New York City. It has received, critical acclaim particularly for its historical authenticity and visual style. While proving to be a gripping story, one thing stood out that is still apparent in today's advertising industry; while there has been a huge increase in the ways and places companies can advertise, the process for advertisers to successfully identify and negotiate their media planning activities is still the same as it was in the 1960's. That is, a manual and laborious task. Gomeeki's most recent project launch for our client pureads.com.au seeks to use technology to improve the task of planning and buying media for business owners looking for a more effective way to execute across any medium. The portal acts as a 'virtual' marketing manager and uses automation, advertising insights and collective buying power to address the task. Functionally and technically designed from the ground-up by our team, our key objectives from the design point of view was to create a simple user-experience that anyone (non-technical) could 'login' and create their brief's without instruction. We are excited to see the improvements that this technology will contribute to the advertising industry at large and in particular for improving direct advertisers planning and buying activities over the coming months and years, with many planned advancements for the system already in the product roadmap. |
